Dr. Carol Mills - Dentist

Hello! I am Doctor Carol Mills, the sole practitioner and owner of Distinctive Dental Care.

To share a little of my background with you, I was in the Navy from 1989-1992 right after high school. My experience in the military helped to guide me in the direction I chose for my life and I will always look back fondly on the memories I made and the people I met. I moved to Denver, CO after my enlistment. 

My career in dentistry began in 1995 after attending dental assisting school in Denver, CO.  I enjoyed taking care of patients and excelled as a dental assistant and eventually an expanded duty dental assistant which allowed me more participation in the procedures alongside the DDS.

I eventually moved back to Lincoln, NE, which is my hometown, and decided to pursue my higher education in dentistry while being closer to family. I attended my undergraduate classes at UNL and attained my Doctor of Dental Surgery from University of Nebraska Medical Center in May of 2011. While in dental school I made the decision to join the Army National Guard. I was in the guard from 2010 until 2015.

I was a non-traditional student and did not begin college classes until I was in my 30's.  I have two children that are 26 and 16 years of age so I was very busy raising them both while going to school.  Life was quite a roller coaster at times but I have thoroughly enjoyed practicing dentistry ever since! It was all worth it!  I purchased Distinctive Dental Care in 2013 from Dr Dean Dutter. He had a very loyal group of patients and I have been very lucky to be able to continue to provide them with their dental care as well as build my own clientele along the way.

I like to focus my attention on all aspects of dentistry. I particularly enjoy cosmetic procedures such as cosmetic resins, crowns, veneers, Invisalign, Botox and Juvéderm! 

I am also very fortunate to be working every day with such a great group of ladies. We have fun at work while helping patients with their dental needs. I take great pride in performing high quality dental work and for our patients to be comfortable as well. Our group enjoys it when patients can go from “dreading” appointments, to actually having a little fun! I strive for the highest level of professionalism and courtesy and so does my staff. 
 

Lianne - Dental Hygienist

Hello, I am Lee (Lianne) and I have been the office administrator with Distinctive Dental Care since 1987.  I am here to help with all your dental administrative needs.  Whether it is scheduling your appointment, insurance, billing, treatment management or any questions you may have, I will always strive to get you your answer! 

I feel fortunate I was given the opportunity to be included in the practice transition of Dr. Dutter and Dr. Mills.  I feel extremely blessed to have had two great individuals to have worked with.  I have learned so much from, been encouraged by them and they were always willing to listen to my ideas and suggestions. 

I still look forward to getting to the office each day.  I am often taken back to think that 31 + years has gone by already.  It has brought the opportunity to witness patients that were first seen as children in the practice and are now bringing in their own children let alone grandchildren.  It is hard to believe how fast time has gone.  The great relationships I have had the opportunity to make over the years with the families has brought a great amount of satisfaction and comfort in my position here with the practice.  
 

Dixie - Dental Assistant

Hello, my name is Dixie. I have been the Dental Assistant here at Distinctive Dental Care since 2011. I feel very lucky to say that I truly love my job! I am definitely a people person and enjoy visiting with my patients and getting to know them. What I like most about dentistry is changing people’s lives, by doing cosmetic dentistry as well as Botox and Juvederm. I take pride when patients compliment Dr. Mills and myself for working very well together! We make a Great Team!!

I have two amazing kids, Corbin and Camrie. I love being a mom and spending time with them! We enjoy boating, traveling, trying new foods and playing sports. We also have a shih poo named Roskow. I was born and raised here in Lincoln, Nebraska. Go Huskers!

Jamie - Dental Hygienist

I graduated dental hygiene school and joined the team in 2011! As a hygienist, I work closely with Dr. Mills and monitor our patient's dental and periodontal health. The best part of working here, I say, is not only getting to know the patients but having the opportunity to make a difference in patients' lives every day. I love to educate people on how to improve their oral health and establish relationships with our patients. It is super satisfying to see someone come back with dramatically improved gum health. People wonder why I like being a hygienist and that's the reason! I always say that I appreciate and am so lucky to work with a fantastic doctor and have the best technology available to use. Outside of the office I love spending time with my husband and our 2 spoiled mini schnauzers! I love and enjoy working out daily and to be outdoors enjoying the sun.
